I have been away for a time from this blog, seems rather fitting the last entry was for the birth of Aleister Crowley, and now it is a remembrance of this death, and passing into the "Great Here & Now", 65 years ago today. The period of Life's sentence and the wax seal that leaves the impression upon the hearts of all that one was close to. Forget not that this is a "Greater Feast", greater than for a birth into the world, is our celebration of an exiting from it; the single certainty of Life itself.

It's October 12th, and 137 years ago, The Beast was born, and so today we celebrate the Feast of Aleister Crowley's birth. Personally I plan to go to the whisky convention and raise a glass (or 6) to our Prophet's manifestation upon the Earth.

Referring back to the image of My Nigredo, I would share some ideas on the role of the Scourge.
The Scourge strikes our skin and we feel the pain of inhabiting this vehicle of flesh and blood and bone. It echos the Buddhist doctrine of Dukkha; the suffering of existence of life on Earth, or qabalistically; Malkuth. As this sphere is the first step of the Path, Dukkha is the 1st of the 4 Noble Truths, and for the Alchemical work, the first step is Saturnus, the Lord of Time and Limitation and thus the Sickle and the Hourglass are theirs, reminding us that all that is born into this world, will suffer and die in the bonds of Time.
For those who still live in the Aeon of Osiris/Asar, the Suffering god, and live in its concepts of sin, guilt and morality, the longer they will beat themselves with this scourge and feels its pain and suffering, and even blame a Devil and its sulphurous breath for the evils and sins of the world we live in. They will await that great day of the fires Judgement and Resurrection, that they will be saved by their faith-in-hope of such a lie.
For those whose Life has been consumed in the Fire of Thelema, and Liberty in its Law; have awakened to the Light Aeon of Horus/Oros. The Scourge's sting is now the Lash of ecstasy, and will thrill them with the Lust of the Light, to awaken, arise and puruse their Path even as a Child overcomes gravity, begins to stumble, to walk and to run!
The Fires of Calcination have been kindled under the flask of the Practicus, even as the Fire of The Aeon, which are also the Plutonian fires that illumine that which is Hidden and Concealed; and this comes upon us even as Hades upon Persephone.
And so the Penitent's Hood is as the Helm of Hades, the Hermit's hood that is black to the blind, seeing only suffering. But for those unto whom the Hoodwink of Initiation is removed shall reap the abounding Joy in Silence.

The following illustration was the accompanying image for the "Nigredo" poem of the previous post. It has been sketching away in my head for some time now, and it manifested for a Hermetic themed art show at The Hermit's Lamp. Many of us in the western mystery tradition know the importance of keeping a written record of one's life in relation to our Path. I am also working on keeping a visual record of the same more intentionally. And so I seek to draw a series of these alchemical steps as they unfold.
Nigredo is the first step in Alchemy, when the Primateria is burnt to ashes. The Crow is a traditional symbol of this process, as is the skull. The ingredients shown are; the left flask is Saturnian, the right is Solar, as Phosphorus. Below is the Scourge of Sulphur, whose lashes are Fiery Serpents (Seraphim). Each of them containing symbols and glyphs of the process and accompanying forces at work. In the background is "the Rood Cross set upon the mountain" dispersing the clouds.
I will be making more entries the more I study this seal upon the phase of the Work.

Hanging around Re Membering.

It has been some time since I have posted anything and have held any Clerk House gatherings. My job and career has become rather consuming, and so I have had to pause any of these activities until I can take the time to give it the attention it so deserves. I'm in process of seeking to strike the balance betwixt work and Work, yoking them unto the Vehicle that I Am. I have been re-realizing that there is no 'work' & 'Work', for it is one Expression, even as every rock in our quarry must be chiseled into the blocks that make the Pyramid, the Temple, the House of God.
Like any Child, the Clerk-House requires attention, loving attention, and to be fed, nourished and listened to for its needs. And so of late it has been pulling on my pant leg and breaking a couple of things here and there to get my attention, and moreso, to teach me in more severe ways, what I must do. As we know, Water is the basis of all life and one of the most needed elements to sustain our life even as it comprises the dominant part of our bodies (appx 60%) as well as the Earth's (appx 70%). And as the Hanged Man has been a dominant Trump to be poured upon me, it is only fitting that things have come to a stand still in Silence on the outside, turbulent Speech of memories on the inside.
ON another note;
I have been thinking on how the Sun comes around to the same place every year to shed its Light upon past events and bring new Illumination, awakening them from the slumber of memory. Birthdays, our solar return is well known, as are anniversaries. Memory and Mimir, the norse god whose decapitated head was kept by the sacred Well of Wisdom at one of the roots of Yggdrasill. Perhaps the very waters that Odin hung over, and gained the Runes hidden treasure. The Hanged Man was the last Trump that I have made, the second one thus far after The House of God (pictures to come). For after The Tower was razed, one hangs and reflects upon not what they have sacrificed and gave, but what they have taken from the experience. And so the House of God can be Raised with the new gnosis gained.
I have noticed that the posts on magick and the Path of the A.'.A.'. that Frater A.O. makes are near always contimerous with my own experiences on my Path, and steps to take, waters of wisdom that I needed to partake in as, the current of a river that gives my ship direction. It affirms where I Am and and Going, and at the same time acts as the Chain of the Gnosis that holds the anchor of Certainty and binds one link by link, generation by generation, to the Order.
The past few weeks have summed all of the above up for me. And as the returning Sun allows me to gaze upon the Waters and see further into its depths, I mistake not the shadows and images that play upon its surface for anything other than reflections. For to grasp at them stirs the sands below, and all becomes muddy and confused and all that was beheld in clarity is now a cloud of illusion.

It was on the Xth of April, 1904ev, that the third chapter of Liber AL vel Legis was received.
I unfortunately could not make it out to the west coast to see the California crew to celebrate the legendary 'Book of the Law Feast' at Leaping Laughter Clerk House. I have no doubt it was a great success and one hell of a blast!

This day, March 19th, 108 years ago, Crowley wrote out the ritual according to the message of Ouarda, who also told him to omit all the usual ritual preparations; breaking the usual conventions. He then performs it and records it done poorly and a failure (it is the test run after all!)
Horus dwells in the Heart, even as a Rose; enflame it in prayer!

It was on this day, March 18th, 1904, that Ouarda revealed that the god who was waiting was Horus, and delivered a ritual for his invocation in skeleton.
In The Equinox of the Gods, this day Crowley records the many tests he gives her to identify Horus. And though she had no knowledge of Egyptology, she passes all with ease. This climaxes in the museum, where Ouarda goes past many images of Horus, and stop and points to a glass case in the distance, saying; "There he is!"
Upon closer inspection they see that the Stele is cataloged #666. It is now known as "The Stele of Revealing" (Liber AL 3:10).
And the Word revealed through the Priestess was "Horus!"

It was on this day, March 16th, 108 years ago, that Aleister Crowley invoked the Sylphs for Rose (Ouarda) Kelly, who then became inspired with the message; "They're waiting for you!"
It is the first day to initiate the series of events that led to Horus becoming the Hierophant at the Equinox of the Gods, and ending with the reception of Liber Al vel Legis.

The next gathering to discuss Aletheia will be Sunday, January 22nd at 7:30pm. We will be closing up the first part on chart analysis and begin the Tarot and its relation to the natal chart. Please bring your previous notes etc. I would also like to wish everyone belated Winter Solstice tidings of prosperity as the Light is said to be 'born' at this time. Let us also remember:
